Today, the entire Scoutmob gang is excited to announce the launch of our newest product: we hereby call it Hand-Picked. And while we’re busy announcing such things, we also want to share a little bit more about the thinking that went behind this new feature on our site. 

When we launched Scoutmob two years ago, we focused on impulsive daily purchases. And because purchases like dinner or a cup of coffee shouldn’t require buying a voucher ahead of time just to afford the discount later, we were the first to create an experience that doesn’t require payment or planning.  Just flash your Scoutmob app and get the discount. Simple, eh?

Since then, we’ve expanded this experience across the country and are now closing in on a million (!!) Scoutmob users looking to become better locals and score amazing perks where they live. In the process, we’ve realized that Scoutmob works really well for daily purchases like that dinner date or cup of coffee… but not as well for activities and events—the things you have to plan ahead of time. Say, a pop-up supperclub with an up-and-coming chef, or a cocktail-making class with a mixologist (or—hey—why not both, together?). Our goal at Scoutmob has always been to help you be a better local, and we realized that we were only serving part of that equation and only part of the local businesses that make each of our cities great.

Well, that all changes today with the launch of our first Hand-Picked: local deals curated by our local scouts. And, because they require upfront planning, you can purchase these upfront as a reservation, and then go and enjoy them. Some Hand-Picked deals will be events. Some Hand-Picked deals will be services. Some will be things that you’ve never seen before.  What we promise is that they will always be the very best, Scoutmob-worthy local experiences. And they’ll be very different from the regular Scoutmob experience. And to make sure we curate only the most unique hand-picked deals, they’ll only happen once in a while. In other words, we’ll only have ‘em… when we have ‘em. First come, first serve.
