Luke Long: account manager, motivational speaker, and…farmer? That’s right, this mustachioed gentleman is the former owner of 12 chickens and 3 goats, but we wouldn’t suggest asking why that statement is in the past tense. Okay, it was hawks.
Luke has been bringing style and grace to the office since February 2011 (a Valentine’s miracle, they call him). He used to be a medical recruiter, scouting out exceptional people to work in understaffed hospitals until he was introduced to the Mob through another of our fantastic employees, Zopi. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is now scooping at Westside Provisions Shop! We were lucky enough to get a ‘lil taste of the shop’s fall flavor creations last week when they stopped by HQ.
The Carl Sagan vs Black Dynamite Situation left everyone wanting more cosmic funk, so here it is.
SOFIA XIV + Protect Awesome + Mistermind present T H E S I T U A T I ON again, this time at the Scoutmob + Goat Farm Halloween party, this Saturday the 26th at the Goat Farm. Come get Lost in Space with DJs Mistermind and Black Box Disco.

It’s getting close…
Sweet potato with torched marshmallows, pecan whiskey and black raspberry corn — sounds like a Thanksgiving feast to remember, right? Not quite.
These are just a few of the many munchable ice cream flavors that will be available at the new Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams scoop shop opening up next week in Atlanta’s Westside Provisions District.
Come on out to Scoutmob HQ tomorrow (10/17) at noon to whet your appetite with a free scoop of this cool, creamy goodness. EVERYONE is invited. Yes. We said everyone.
Leatherworker, famous actor, semi-professional pie-eater. This swanky bloke is Barry Greene.
Master ambassador and customer support sorcerer Barry Greene is one of the original Scoutmob five: mobsters that have been with the company since its beginnings in a small, one-bedroom loft apartment. Scoutmob has grown quite a bit over the past few years and has settled nicely into its new, spacious home on Means St. Barry says it feels like an entirely different company but that the laid-back charm hasn’t changed at all. His proudest moment here at Scoutmob? Accepting the challenge to get a totally awesome Scoutmob tattoo. He says he did it because he wanted to, but we all know it was to preserve his job security!
Our annual Halloween party at The Goat Farm is back and more outta-this-world than ever! We’re going to a whole ‘nother cosmic level this year—complete with a 12-ft astronaut puppet, a 36-piece marching band of galactic proportions and spine-tingling art installations.
And of course, dear readers, we’ve got the grub and spirits covered. We’re talking craft beer frozen pints, the best food trucks in town and the premiere of Jailhouse Brewing’s bottled goods (among other blood-curdling cocktails).
So grab your tickets, don your Halloween finery and meet us at the other end of the universe for a night of debauchery. See you (rain or shine) Oct. 26th!
***In case you missed it, take a peep at last year’s shindig to get an idea of the wonderment that is to come this Hallow’s Eve.
Friday rhymes with “fly day,” and we think we know why. The end of this work week was marked by a quick visit from local Shoppe maker Brian Preston, who takes fly to a whole ‘nother level. We gathered round ye old conference table to chat him up and find out the latest happenings with his design and build company, Lamon Luther.
If you missed out on the feature article we ran over the summer, Lamon Luther is a company that gives homeless men the tools they need (literally) to work their way back into society. Preston provides a workshop where the men are able to hone their carpentry skills on sustainable materials like shipping pallets or old pieces of barn wood and re-purpose the pieces into stunning, high-end furniture for profit.
The company has grown substantially over the past year and recently partnered up with West Elm to create an exclusive Lamon Luther product line.
It was an awesome, pizza-filled afternoon with Preston in the office. We’ve enjoyed watching his vision come to life and seeing the positive impact that it is having on other’s lives. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Check out L.L. on Shoppe to read more about the company history and get your hands on some crafty goods, or visit them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
There’s no denying our love for fancy facial hair here at Scoutmob HQ, but in case you don’t believe the hype, we’ve devised a snazzy contest to prove just how deep our mustache roots really grow.
Next time you spot a sweet ‘stache around town, we want to see it! Whether it’s a handlebar doodle on your meeting notes or muttonchops morphed from a local meal, snap a quick pic and upload it to your go-to social hub with the hashtag #ShowUsYourStache.
Our favorite submissions will receive showers of adulation, the maddest of props and a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ from the Scoutmob goodie bag. The first place winner will receive two (2) tickets to the upcoming Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer event at Monday Night Brewing on Friday October 11th, 2013. Each ticket includes six beer tickets, a souvenir pint glass, a tour of the brewery, and will be entered in a raffle for unique “WOW! Experience” packages.
We’ve shown you ours, now let’s see yours!
Last week Scoutmob HQ held its inaugural Pinewood Derby, lovingly dubbed, “The Mustache Ride Cup.” We saw a Lamborghini, a booze-fueled El Camino, the “Ari-O” Speedwagon and a few more entrants that evade description. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
